Working at Atlassian
Atlassians can choose where they work whether in an office, from home, or a combination of the two. That way, Atlassians have more control over supporting their family, personal goals, and other priorities. We can hire people in any country where we have a legal entity.
About DX
DX is the developer intelligence platform. We help engineering leaders understand how work gets done, improve developer experience, and make better decisions about productivity and AI. DX combines self-reported insights from developers with data from the systems where software work happens, then turns those signals into insights teams can act on.

Design at DX
Design at DX is fast, hands-on, and deeply collaborative. Designers partner with Product and Engineering from problem definition through implementation, stay close to customers and GTM partners, and help determine both what we build and how it works. We build shared understanding across the team, then use AI and code to make ideas concrete and contribute directly to the production codebase. We also participate in the broader design community across Atlassian.
About the Role
We are looking for a Principal Product Designer to lead product design across DX. As an individual contributor with DX-wide influence and the design counterpart to our Head of Product and Head of Engineering, you will lead DX's most consequential design work and set the direction and quality bar for the DX design team. A central challenge will be making complex engineering data easier to understand and act on by organizing experiences around the questions different roles need to answer and helping customers reach useful insights faster.
What you'll do
- Set the end-to-end experience vision for DX, creating coherence across product surfaces and customer journeys while aligning with the broader Atlassian product ecosystem.
- Partner with the Head of Product and Head of Engineering to shape product strategy, roadmap priorities, and the backlog.
- Turn complex engineering data into coherent, persona- and jobs-to-be-done-based experiences through information architecture, interaction design, data visualization, and analytical workflows.
- Lead customer research and involve Product and Engineering so teams develop a shared understanding of customer needs.
- Lead high-impact work from customer discovery and problem framing through implementation, QA, and post-launch iteration.
- Use AI-native workflows and code to make design intent concrete through working prototypes, contribute directly to production, and iterate based on live usage.
- Shape how AI changes the DX product experienceincluding conversational and agentic workflowsand how our teams discover, design, build, and ship it.
- Define and track experience outcomesincluding time to insight, task success, adoption, and satisfactionand use them to guide iteration.
- Establish scalable patterns and frameworks that improve consistency across DX, partnering with Atlassian teams to align with the Atlassian Design System and address emerging product needs.
- Partner with leadership to set design priorities across DX and bring the right designers into high-impact work.
- Lead design syncs and critiques, provide hands-on feedback, and mentor designers across the team.
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. We follow consistent hiring practices and account for each candidate's skills, knowledge, and experience when setting base pay within the range.
